Free Icons for everyone!

I have been working on an icon set for a while.

Final adjustments are being made and PNG's are being created.

Many of the icons are
already in use by a few companies and individuals.

The first open release of this set will be Feb 23rd.

More information on how to receive the free icon set will be posted in the coming weeks.

Want to help me name this icon set? Leave your suggestion in a comment!

A Reassertion of Sovereignty

Sometimes there are things that make me pause for a moment and say, "Wow! Is this real?".

Today, I saw an article that explained how the Native American Lakota tribe is attempting to "reassert their nations sovereignty" (not secede) from the United States of America.

The Lakota have set their boundaries in an area that encompasses thousands of miles of the United States in Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska, North Dakota and South Dakota. There is a minor internal dispute over the name of the land... some Lakota tribal leaders declare this land
the Republic of Lakotah, while other Lakota tribal leaders call their land Lakota Oyate. Lakota tribal leaders are attempting to lobby various international embassies in order to gain recognition as a free and sovereign entity.

Will these claims gain public recognition?

Lakota Tribal leaders consider the matter the consequence of broken treaties and give clear explanation of their reasoning. Mentions of acts of asserting their sincerity on the matter are posted on Wikipedia.

I am intrigued and want to know more. However,
this is not being covered by any major public news gathering agency nationally or internationally. I found nothing on the issue in any public news source (CNN, Fox, The LA Times, The NY Times, BBC, Reuters and Associated Press).

This makes me wonder...
"Wow! Is this real?".

Exploring...

Recently, I have found myself in need of more micro-breaks while working.

A micro-break is usually around 5 minutes, and consist of looking up a word or two on Wikipedia, or paying a bill, or following a link to YouTube for a video.

Distractions are plentiful on the web.

Some of my 'micro-break' accomplishments for the day:

I read about asbestos.

I downloaded some forms from the Georgia DOT.

And, I may have found the best thing on YouTube (or the worst):

Everyone must take a micro-break too. Right?

What does a 'lightning bolt' say to you?

Playing with a bit of icon work today.

In my files, found a little 'lightning bolt' icon.

I like the illustration, but don't have a need for it yet.

Took some time trying to attach 'ideas' and 'actions' to the little illustration, in order to give it meaning. I came up with quite a few on my own, but I wonder what others think it could represent or symbolise.

What does a 'lightning bolt' say to
you?

It is rare, but...

... today, it snowed in Atlanta.
Good day to go to the farmers market.
Our friend aquired a new motorcycle.
The evening is uncertain.

Song for a nice snowy day in Atlanta:

An Introduction?

What is SLBBQ?
Support Local BBQ is an idea about exploring.

What are you exploring?
Creativity in everything. Regardless of ideology or presentation.

Where have you been looking?

The "Local" part of SLBBQ is about exploring our immediate environment. It doesn't matter where we are. Incredibly intense ideas are everywhere... expressions of those intense ideas are surely near. Isn't it nice to be in "the right place" at "the right time"?

Well then, what do you mean by 'Support'?
"Support" to us means; positively reacting to our immediate environment by, "preserving the core, while stimulating progress".

What is 'BBQ'?
"BBQ" is any focussed and pure expression of adaptation to circumstance without regard to medium.

So, what are you doing here?
Hopefully, we will share some BBQ with you.
